A subdomain is part of a web address that's under the main domain name, such as name.example.com. From a technical perspective, even in www.example.com the "www" element is a subdomain because the fully qualified domain name is just "example.com". Every subdomain could have its own site and records and can even be hosted with a different company if you wish to use some feature that's not provided by your current provider. A good example for using a subdomain is if you have a business site along with an online store under a subdomain where clients can purchase your products. You can even have a forum where they can talk about the products and by employing subdomains as opposed to subfolders you will avoid any chance of all websites going down when you perform maintenance, or update one of the website scripts. Keeping the sites separated is more secure in case there is a script security breach.

Subdomains in Cloud Hosting

Our cloud hosting plans will permit you to create many subdomains for every domain address hosted in your account without any difficulty. Assuming that the main domain is added, it will take two mouse clicks to set up a subdomain and choose what folder it will open (if different from the default one), create custom error pages, activate FrontPage Extensions, set a shared IP address or a dedicated one, plus much more. All subdomains are going to be conveniently listed in alphabetical order under their main domain for easy access and control. By right-clicking on any one of them and by using instant access buttons you can see the error logs, visitor statistics or website files for that particular subdomain. We haven't set a limit for the total number of subdomains you can create with any of our plans, so you can have as many as you wish.

Subdomains in Semi-dedicated Servers

With our semi-dedicated server plans, you'll be able to create an unlimited amount of subdomains for any of the domains that you add as hosted in the account. It will take a few mouse clicks to create a new subdomain and during the process you will be able to add custom-made error pages for it, decide if it will use a shared or a dedicated IP, change the default folder that it will access or activate FrontPage Extensions. All subdomains that you have within the account are going to be arranged under their root domain in alphabetical order and you're going to be able to see and control them with ease. Through instant access buttons and right-click menus you'll also be able to jump to the site files within the File Manager area or check logs, visitor stats and other info about any one of your subdomains.
